A ‘BIOS-less’ approach to Intel architecture start-up provides hardware vendors and QNX customers with customizable BIOS-type functionality that meets the performance needs of hard real-time embedded applications. It eliminates the BIOS from the final bill of materials while providing greater control and dramatically faster boot times at system initialization. Compared to a typical BIOS start up time of 20 seconds, a QNX initial program loader (IPL) for Intel architecture can boot in as little as one second.
QNX FASTboot Camp is a three-day training session that gives developers the necessary knowledge to configure the QNX reference BSP for the Intel Atom processor Z5xx series and Intel System Controller Hub US15W development kit. Participants will walk away from this course with a QNX fast-boot IPL for Intel architecture that they can customize for specific hardware designs with Intel Atom processors. Relevant information for enabling QNX Fastboot IPL for other Intel processors will also be discussed.
