QNX Neutrino RTOS
QNX® Software Systems provides two ways for developers to evaluate the QNX® Neutrino® RTOS as a target platform within a VMware session.
(VMware lets developers test software without using a dedicated PC as a target.)
-
VMware image — Use with VMware Workstation 7.0 or VMware Player 3.0
This image of a running QNX Neutrino RTOS installation should be opened in VMware directly.
(Note: this image will only work with these specific versions of VMware; other versions require the ISO boot CD image link below.)
Advantage of this approach: This option is the fastest way to get going.
-
ISO boot CD image — Use with any version VMware workstation or player
This ISO image is a single redistributable file containing the complete contents of the QNX Neutrino RTOS boot CD.
This 'CD' can be used to boot a new virtual machine.
(Note: This image can also be burned onto a CD and booted from an PC with a CD-bootable BIOS.)
Advantage of this approach: This option is compatible with any version of VMware.
After downloading, go to the CD/DVD drive settings page within VMware, select
Use an ISO image, and Browse to the ISO image you're downloading; reboot your
virtual machine.
To run a VMware image, you will need VMware software.
Multiple options are available from the VMware site to run QNX-supplied virtual machine images.
