Strategic Partners

Before the world knew about MP3 players, the Internet and even laptops, QNX and Intel were partnering to meet the needs of advanced computing design. Early versions of the QNX operating system supported x86 and IA based architectures, and QNX OS optimizations were primarily designed for Intel silicon. QNX was the first RTOS to support the memory management unit on Intel 286 architecture and has been demonstrating technical leadership on Intel's products for more than 25 years.

More recently, joint initiatives have focused on multicore processing, both from a technical and business perspective. Intel and QNX are helping customers migrate from their single-core legacy systems to Intel's new families of dual- and quad-core architectures. Additionally, Intel hardware platforms will be the lead silicon for the QNX Aviage multimedia middleware product suite.

Intel's processors are used by QNX customers across all vertical markets and geographies. Support for Intel parts is an integral element of QNX's ongoing roadmap for silicon support.
